Kiplinger.com compiled a list of 10 Great Cities for Raising Kids, keeping in mind the importance of good schools and safety for the kids, and enough earning potential for parents to support their families.

The article list pros and cons for each city. The pros for Raleigh are "High family income, affordable family housing, strong employment growth (especially in biotechnology, textiles and medical technology), lauded city schools, mild weather year-round, moderate and falling crime rates."  On the list of cons were a lagging wage growth and staggered construction and growth in the downtown.

Other towns on the list were: Ann Arbor, Michigan; West Hartford, Connecticut; Rochester, Minnesota; Madison, Wisconsin; Kennewick, Washington; Huntsville, Alabama; Pocatello, Idaho; College Station, Texas; and Ellicott City, Maryland.

Have you lived in any of the cities on the list other than Raleigh? How do you think Raleigh compares to other places you've lived? Tell me in the comments section!
